    Latvian-French joint venture EMMA – alliance of import and export
    A sensational presentation of joint venture EMMA (Eurasian MultiModal Alliance), established by the international logistic company GEFCO and one of the leading and rapidly developing Latvian railway company SRR was held in the Embassy of France in Latvia. The main purpose of joint venture is to implement multimodal transportations from Europe to Central Asia. This alliance primarily is of interest to those, who provide container loading in both directions.

    Nokia and Microsoft against iPhone
    Nokia worked out a new strategy: partnership with Microsoft. New Nokia’s administration decided to join their forces with Microsoft in an attempt to regain ground lost to the iPhone and Android-based devices. The main idea is that Nokia’s existing smartphone operating systems will be gradually sidelined by using Microsoft Windows Phone 7 operating system.

    Radical changes expected in the EU research and innovation funding
    The European Commission launched consultations on improvements in EU research and innovation funding to make participation easier and to increase R&D scientific and economic impact on development. The Commission’s Green Paper is prepared by 7 commissioners and provides the basis for simplification of procedures and rules as well as maximising the contribution of EU research and innovation funding to the EU-2020 Strategy. The consultations will run until 20 May 2011.

    Diplomatic Club for Peace Appeal to world leaders and humanity

    Diplomatic Economic Club strongly condemns and is not accepting any kind of aggression, military collisions, wars between countries, which are happening here close in the center of Europe, on the other continents of the world, in Asia, in Africa.
    Nothing can justify the use of force in any cases, everywhere it leads to suffering of civilians.
    We call all parts, leaders of all levels for a peaceful solution of any disagreements through the dialog and negotiations.
    Only the Peace on our planet, olny Friendship and mutual understanding promote the life of people.
    Please don't even allow yourself any thought about World War III, about nuclear weapons.
    All the humanity remembers the wars of the 20th century, and if somebody has forgotten, please remember. Diplomatic Club for Peace
