30 августа на доме по адресу Рига, Весетас 8, была торжественно открыта обновленная доска памяти великого русского писателя Валентина Пикуля.
При участии Посольства России в Латвии, предпринимателя Алексея Милова и других была создана новая доска в память о проживании в доме на ул. Весетас 8 писателя Валентина Саввича Пикуля, многие известные произведения которого были созданы именно в этом доме.

Церемонию открытия памятной доски провел Евгений Тихонов, советник Посольства России.
Посол России А. Вешняков в своем выступлении подчеркнул, что В. Пикуль за написал 28 произведений, которые в настоящее время изданы общим тиражом свыше пол миллиарда экземпляров (!) и его книги переведены на 22 языка мира. Память о писателе живет и будет жить, его известные книги Моонзунд, Битва железных канцлеров, Честь имею и многие другие читают не только старшие поколения, но также и молодежь.

Перед собравшимися выступила Антонина Ильинична Пикуль, вдова писателя, почитатели его таланта, друзья.

Почтить память писателя пришли также представители Посольств Беларуси и Украины

All the humanity remembers the wars of the 20th century, and if somebody has forgotten, please remember. Stop War!
