22.aprīlī Kluba biedri iepazījās ar Latvijas Organiskās sintēzes institūta projektiem un darbību Latvijas Organiskās sintēzes institūts.
Institūta direktors, profesors un zinātnes doktors Ivars Kalviņš prezentēja institūta iespējas mūsdienīgajā farmaceitiskajā nozarē.
Institūts tika izveidots 1957.gada 2.janvārī orgāniskās ķīmijas, molekulārās bioloģijas un bioorganiskās ķīmijas pētniecības nolūkos.
Organiskās sintēzes institūts piedalās dažādās zinātnes un pētniecības projektos, sadarbojas ar Latvijas un ārvalstu farmaceitiskiem uzņēmumiem.
Pašlaik institūtam ir projekti ar 14 farmaceitiskām kompānijām visā pasaulē. Kopā ar biznesa partneriem ir vairāk nekā 250 patentu pēdējo 5 gadu laikā.

Pētniecības darba nodrošināšanai institūtam pieder moderns kvalitatīvs aprīkojums. 125 zinātnes doktori un 100 studentu veic zinātnes darbus ar praktisko pielietojumu nozarē. Profesori apmāca studentus trijās Latvijas universitātēs. Institūtā tiek izdots zinātniskais žurnāls par orgāniskas ķīmijas jautājumiem.
Institūta iespējas, ņemot vērā esošas programmas, var sekmēt Latvijas ekonomikas eksporta potenciāla palielināšanai.
Kluba prezidenta pienākumu izpildītājs Janos Rekasi izteica pateicību Kluba vārdā Ivaram Kalviņam par interesantu sarunu, ekskursiju institūta laboratorijās un, pasniedzot Kluba diplomu, novēlēja arī turpmāk realizēt projektus un attīstīties.

Appeal to world leaders and humanity

Diplomatic Economic Club strongly condemns and is not accepting any kind of aggression, military collisions, wars between countries, which are happening here close in the center of Europe, on the other continents of the world, in Asia, in Africa. Nothing can justify the use of force in any cases, everywhere it leads to suffering of civilians. We call all parts, leaders of all levels for a peaceful solution of any disagreements through the dialog and negotiations. Only the Peace on our planet, olny Friendship and mutual understanding promote the life of people. *Please don't even* allow yourself any thought about World War III, about nuclear weapons. All the humanity remembers the wars of the 20th century, and if somebody has forgotten, please remember. Stop War!
