    The trend of the producer`s price of agricultural production in 1995 — 2009  

    Below are statistics on the purchasing prices for agricultural products in Latvia from 1995 to 2009, as well as some positions were compared with retail prices of the same period.

    The most significant growth rates experienced a ton of mutton, which amounted to 151% — from 643 lats in 1995 to 1,616 lats in 2009 to 1 ton.

    The most stable price situation was in livestock and poultry, however, the smallest increase in prices in protsentualnom for 1995 and 2009 was for pork. The price of pork rose by only 19% in 14 years.

    Procurement prices for agricultural products (LVL per ton)

    The graph below compares the retail and procurement prices for pork in lats per kg. The average difference between retail and procurement prices of 80% in 1995 and 140% in 2009 from the purchase price.


    With regard to prices for milk and cereal, the peak price was recorded in 2007, in turn, in 2009 the price level is almost back to the 1995 level of purchasing prices.

    Procurement prices for agricultural products (LVL per ton)

    The average retail price for one kg of wheat flour coincided with the trends of the purchase price for wheat. In 2009, the average purchase price was 8 centimes per kilogram of wheat and the retail price per kg of flour equal to 47 centimes.
