Evening at Diplomatic Club
A traditional Beaujolais nouveau wine history and establishment excuse and mineral water blind tasting was on the Diplomatic Clubs evening program list.
Evening began with a discussion on the ongoing Club functioning activities.
Club membership issues and event program for winter/spring 2015 were touched.
Our Club member Maxim Preminin is leaving to his homeland. Club President Dawid Tomaszewski presented him a gift – book about Latvia, wished success with the new job.
Maxim Preminin thanked Club members for the many interesting joint events and the offered chance to get to know Latvia, its culture and companies better. He wished the Club to keep developing, to strengthen even further the friendship and tolerance.
Seven contestants were announced for the natural mineral water blind tasting competition. All of them are available in Latvia and also can be found in other countries.
Four out of seven competitors were given the same highest number of votes. The winners are following trademarks
Rocchetta, Venden, Vittel, Turaida.
Three more trademark mineral waters were presented in the competition – Mangali, Evian and Vichy
Results of the competition are based on the blind taster individual perceptions.
Club members got familiar with the Beaujolais Nouveau wine traditions. It comes from Beaujolais region in France. Following the best traditions wine presentation to the public was accompanied by slogans «Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrive!» (Eng, „It’s Beaujolais Nouveau Time!“).
Beaujolais Nouveau is a young wine from Game grapes, produced in Beaujolais, Burgundy region of France.
The wine is being sold six weeks after the grapes were harvested, immediately after the end of first fermentation processes.
Since 1985 an official celebration date has been announced – third Thursday of November.
